Recognizing Iley Dread

A stalwart of Canada’s reggae scene, Colin “Iley Dread” Levy’s contribution to the music in that country was lauded at the eighth ReggaeXclusive Recognition Awards on October 10 in Toronto.

The event took place at the Julius Banquet Hall.

Iley Dread, who started the Kings Of Kings Productions label in Montreal in 1991, was recognized for his work as an artist, music producer, and show promoter.

“This award is meaningful to me because it shows that my music is appreciated and my hard work and dedication is recognized by the massive,” he said.

The Jamaican impresario accepted the award from Guyana-born Donna Makeda, who co-founded the show with Jamaican Prince Everald. They have also operated ReggaeXclusive Entertainment News, a quarterly magazine, since 2002.

“My greatest contribution to reggae in Canada is that I opened doors of opportunities for many people. I brought reggae to Canada for conscious entertainment and upliftment. I have filled the gap of reggae lovers by bringing top notch live entertainment for people who love and appreciate positive reggae music,” said Iley Dread.

Kings Of Kings Productions has produced albums and songs by many artists including Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Luciano, Sizzla, and Norris Man. As an artist, he has released three albums and a number of singles.
